A little help for your closet

Let’s sort it out.

Getting started, keeping your wardrobe safe, and making Closet work for you.

Getting started

How do I install Closet?

Closet is currently in beta. Install Apple’s TestFlight app, then open the Closet beta invitation on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Apple’s invitation page shows current beta availability.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad need iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. The native Mac app needs macOS 15 or later. Apple Intelligence and Visual Intelligence depend on compatible hardware and software.

Do I need an account?

No Closet account is required. Your wardrobe starts on your device. You can use your Apple account for optional private iCloud sync.

Where should I start?

Add a few favorite pieces first. Try building an outfit, then log a wear. You can fill in purchase prices, brands, colors, tags and other details later.

Adding your pieces

How do I add an item?

Choose Add Item and start with photos, enter a piece yourself, or use a supported product link. In a batch photo import, each photo becomes its own item to review. You can edit an item later as you remember more.

Can I save a shopping page?

Yes. Enable Closet Product Importer in Safari’s extension settings. Open a supported product page, activate the extension and choose Review in Closet. On Mac, the Chrome importer is also available as an unpacked extension. Choose the right product photo and review the captured details in the native app before saving to Closet or Wishlist.

What if a web import doesn’t work?

Some sites block requests or omit product details. Try another product URL, add the piece from a saved photo, or enter it yourself. Always check the captured title, price and photos before saving.

How does Amazon import work?

Sign in to Amazon inside Closet’s import browser, browse order history, then select and review the purchases you want to add. Your password goes directly to Amazon. Closet does not save it or send your orders to a Closet server.

Sync & backup

How do I use my wardrobe on another device?

Sign in to the same Apple account and use Closet’s private iCloud sync. Make sure iCloud is available on both devices, and allow time for records and photos to sync.

What should I do if sync seems stuck?

Check your internet connection, Apple account and available iCloud storage. Open Closet on each device and check its sync status. Create a backup before reinstalling the app, resetting data or making other changes that could remove local records.

Can I back up or export my wardrobe?

Yes. In Settings, use Closet’s backup controls to create a .closetbackup file. You can restore from that file in Closet and export records to CSV. Keep an extra copy somewhere you control before changing devices.

Does my theme sync?

No. Themes and most preferences stay on each device. My Colors can sync through iCloud. You can also choose to sync your AI provider selection and API key; keys use iCloud Keychain.

Closet Pro & AI

What’s included for free?

You can keep up to 50 active closet items, build outfits, log wear, use statistics and an unlimited Wishlist, and use private iCloud sync and backups. Archived items do not count toward the limit; restoring an archived item uses a slot.

Is Closet Pro a subscription?

No. Closet Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that removes the item limit and unlocks supported cloud AI providers with your own API key. Check the app for the price in your region. Provider usage is billed separately by the provider.

Does Pro work across my devices?

One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac through your Apple account. Family Sharing is supported. If your purchase does not appear, use Restore Purchases in Closet and check that you are signed in to the Apple account that made the purchase.

Do I need AI, Pro or an API key?

AI is optional. Apple Intelligence is available without an additional purchase on compatible devices. Supported cloud providers require Closet Pro and your own API key. Available providers vary by region; Mac also supports custom endpoints. Where cloud providers aren’t available, Closet Pro still removes the item limit.

What happens to my data when I use cloud AI?

Before sending text or photos, Closet names the provider and asks for your consent. You can review or revoke future sharing in Settings → AI Features → Cloud AI Privacy. Revoking consent cannot delete copies a provider has already retained. Read the privacy policy for details.
